SWUSA NEWS FLASH:
MAR 13-23 Sad news...we're on our way back home
We left Hot Springs National Park reluctantly as it was such a nice stop. Our next adventure was to Desoto just outside of Dallas where we stayed at a Harvest Host (HH). HH are businesses that allow you to camp at their site. They are usually Wineries, Breweries, Distilleries, Museums, Farms or some other attraction and camping is free. While there is usually no services; some offer, electric or water. Stops are usually just overnight and campers are encouraged to patronize the business. It’s always nice, though not necessary to support them by purchasing some of their product. There is a yearly membership fee but a couple of nights pays for itself.
Our Harvest Host was a Ford Car Dealership! No, we didn't buy a car! They didn't expect a purchase! In fact, they emphasized they just want to help the RV community. They offer a flat, level, concrete secure and patrolled area to park overnight and we quite enjoyed the solitude and it was right at the interstate Highway.
On Monday, March 16 March we were in San Antonio TX. Our insurance was still saying that we were covered (phoned again) But it was hard to decide to stay or return … we listened to Doug Ford, Ontario's premier and to Justin Trudeau at 1:00 p.m. We were visiting the San Jose Mission just down the road from our campground. It is one of four missions that comprise the National Historic Site in San Antonio. The US calls them something different but we can't remember the designation - they are part of their national parks.

So … here’s the e-mail we sent out to everyone on Monday March 16th:
Good Afternoon Everyone, we have reluctantly decided to cancel the rest of our adventure and head back to Canada. We listened to Prime Minister Trudeau's press conference today and the updates associated with it. We believe that things will be much worse in the US before they get better and have decided to listen to Justin's call for all Canadians to return home while they can. Of course, we are very disappointed but there will be other trips and more adventures to come.
We hope that you are well and safe and practicing "social distancing." Stop hoarding TP if you are! LOL!
We did some grocery shopping yesterday and were amazed to see so many empty shelves in Walmart - no fresh meat, except turkey - so we had turkey burgers for supper.
For many of you, we'll see you soon - after two weeks on our own at home.
Take care. Love to all.

Oh, yah we still had to travel - long days of driving. We found this really neat campground built by the Army Corps of Engineers. Sooo nice, that we stayed two nights at …$20/night! Incredible. There were still 1000+ miles to home. We were pretty stressed after two days of constant driving and depressing news. The extra day in a delightful place was needed.

| Ramping up social distancing. We heard the campground was not taking new reservations. Not sure if this was true. |
We were able to make it back home without incident. We thought we would have to boondock in a Walmart but we found a year round KOA in Muncie Indiana that was open and had full hook ups. There was a heated water standpipe so the water won’t freeze. Jerry did bring our own water hose inside just in case. We were warm and cozy. Then we drove the last 700 km straight home. There was no traffic on the Interstates except for a few trucks.
We had no problem at the border. We are now safe and at home, in self isolation for two weeks. Our family ordered some groceries for us and we unloaded in the snow!!!

We have to re-winterize Miss Adventure II. Wondering when/where the next adventure will be?
Let’s all hope and pray this pandemic ends soon.
Love and Peace:
Jerry, Elizabeth, Misty, Miss Adventure Too and Clifford the Big Red Truck.
