SWUSA 2020 Feb 29 to March 5
We left the cold and snowy weather on March 1st, planning to get to Nashville in just a few days so we could get Miss Adventure Too up and running. Jerry took the time to put together a short movie clip showing him digging out Too from the storage yard on the 29th of February after a snow storm! Take a look at this link (click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9s0gmoZ2KQ ). It's only 1 minute long.

Our trip down was uneventful. Lots of interstate driving and transports. The road conditions vary from state to state, from terrible to good, but the speed is stupid: mostly 70 mph (approx. 110 kph.) Too fast. We keep it around 60mph which is still too fast for my liking.
We stayed in two motels along the route. Misty had never stayed in a motel before, she found it to be interesting but also unsettling. She spent time by the door listening to the activity in the hall. We could have camped but it would be really inconvenient when there is no water in the trailer.
The scenery on the drive became more pleasant as we went south. All through the state of Kentucky, Elizabeth was looking for the bluegrass. Unfortunately, it was mostly yellow and brown but closer to Tennessee the fields were greening, the trees were budding and the sun began to shine. Spring. We even saw some crocuses growing at the side of the road.
We arrived in Nashville on Tuesday, March 3 after a tornado had landed the previous night! Our camp was fine but there was considerable damage in certain areas of the city, power outages, at least nine fatalities in Nashville and over 25 in the area of touchdowns. We wouldn’t have known if Amie hadn’t noticed it and messaged us.
At first we were not sure if we should even go to Nashville at all but so far things are OK here. We were able to de-winterize Miss Adventure and get the water running without incident…whew…you never know. We hope to enjoy some touristy things (we have tickets to the Opry and a tour of the city). We planned time here for more “adds” to the trailer: install a back-up camera and wifi booster. Maybe a new bathroom faucet. This would be a good camp to do all of that because there is a Campers World next door and parts/advice easily available. Wednesday we walked over there - no boots, no hats, no scarves, no gloves, we didn't wear a coat! Nice.
This morning it's sunny and headed for 18+C in Nashville. The trees are budding and birds are chirping. We have seen cardinals flitting about and heard a wood pecker.
